Drone Swarm: An RTS Game About 32,000 Drones

It’s not easy to make a visually impressive RTS game, especially in a genre as common as sci fi. But Astragon Entertainment and Stillalive Studios may have done just that with Drone Swarm, an upcoming RTS game.

The studio, known for the Bus Simulator franchise, is branching into a new genre. In Drone Swarm, the player controls Captain Carter, the leader of the only human-operated ship left known as the Argo. To protect your people, and humanity in turn, you have to control a swarm of 32,000 individual drones in a mission to find a new home planet. In the meantime, they are under attack by alien armies. Different enemies require different tactics to best handle them. As the player gains mastery over the swarm, more skills and abilities become available to them. Drone Swarm also utilizes a star map, allowing the player to choose their own path toward the end goal.

Aside from being a unique take on the RTS genre, Drone Swarm is a tremendously good looking game. The game’s animations, special effects, and color schemes blend together in a very attractive way.

The game is currently in development, but a lucky few had a chance to play the game early. Drone Swarm was a part of the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition. People could register to play an early version of the game online during the event, which ran from June 9 to 14.

But for the rest of us, we’ll have to wait until the game releases on PC. Currently, Drone Swarm is marked for release some time near the end of 2020. Stay tuned for more information about the game until then. Additionally, you can visit the official website.
